Here Are A Dozen Options For Free TV Streaming While You’re Stuck At Home

The COVID-19 coronavirus crisis has much of the country self-isolating inside their homes. Eventually, you run out of closets to clean and other home projects. Fortunately, these online streaming services are offering extended free trial periods – up to 30 days or more.

This list contains direct links to the streaming channel as well as discount codes and expiration dates (if applicable).  Some streaming services like Amazon, Roku, AppleTV and others also have subscriber-only offers. We also noted those options.

Remember: many of these free streaming offers are valid for a limited time, and terms/prices are subject to change.

1. Acorn:

This British streaming service bills itself as “the best of British TV.” Binge-watch classic series and discover new dramas, comedies, feature films, and documentaries.

2. Amazon Prime & Prime Video:

Amazon Prime subscribers have access to a large library of TV shows, movies, and original programming. Amazon Prime Video also has subscription agreements with premium channels. Most offer at least a 30-day trial period.  Some, like Noggin (an educational children’s channel) offer a 60-day trial period.

You need an Amazon Prime subscription to access the Prime Video lineup. A subscription costs $119/year, and Amazon offers a free 30-day trial Prime subscription, which includes Prime Video.

6. Hulu:

Paid plans start at $5.99/month, but you can also register for a 30-day free trial period. Hulu offers a mix of TV shows, movies, and original programming. Watch many current TV shows the day after they air on network TV. Other options include commercial-free programs and live TV.

7. Netflix:

Paid plans start at $8.99/month, but you can register for a 30-day free trial period. Netflix offers unlimited access to original programming, movies, anime, children’s programming, documentaries, TV shows and more.

8. Showtime:

9. Shudder:

Shudder TV offers members “more horror and thrillers than anyone.”

10. Smithsonian Channel Plus:

Watch feature-length documentaries about space, nature, history, culture, and more at the Smithsonian Institution’s branded streaming channel.

Roku: Add the channel free for 30 days, then $4.99/ month..

11. TOPIC:

This new streaming service invites you to “tour the world from your couch” and explore a wide range of subject matter, both fiction and non-fiction.

Standalone app: 30-day free trial subscription. The service costs $29.99/year after the trial period.

Amazon Prime: 30-day free trial, then $4.99/ month.

12. Urban Movie Channel:

UMC is the largest subscription service dedicated to African American TV and film. It has classic programming, original series, movies, documentaries, and more.
