Why is Bay Alarm Medical the Cheaper Medical Alert System?

It’s a question we get numerous times per day. “Why is your medical alert system cheaper?”. “How are you able to keep your prices so low?”.

It’s not that we’re “cheaper”. We’re simply “less expensive”.

Visitors come to our website and are usually greeted with our big and simple-to-read pricing chart.

Right away, our visitors clearly see that our pricing is a lot lower than that of our competitors. The next questions that follow usually go something like this:

  • Why are you guys cheaper?
  • How are you guys able to do this?
  • What do you guys leave out that I’ll get by paying someone else more?
  • There must be hidden fees. What are they?

We’d like to kick off our new blog by answering all of these questions. Let’s start with some background.

Bay Alarm was founded in 1946.


We’ve been around for quite some time. Over 66 years to be exact. During this time, Bay Alarm has been able to streamline all of our business operations. It starts with our vendors, or rather, the guys that provide our hardware.

Our vendors love us because they know we’re credible. Being in business for over six decades will have that effect on a company. They know that we’re in it for the long haul and are looking for lasting relationships rather than short term profits. When our vendors love us, they ultimately give us better pricing. When we get better pricing, we’re able to offer our customers a lower rate. It’s really that simple.



The next part has to do with our advertising. We all remember the “I’ve fallen and can’t get up commercials”. Heck they’re still running today. Our competitor does a great job of getting people to notice these commercials and driving them to either call or go to their website.

We wish we could run TV commercials all day as well. As a matter of fact, we tried doing that very thing a couple of years ago. Trust me when I say that TV commercials are very, VERY expensive to run. We ended up having to pass on the added expenses to our customers.

This wasn’t the direction we wanted to take. We wanted our customers to pay for our medical alert services – not for our marketing efforts. We ultimately decided to stop advertising on TV.

Chances are you found us by searching on Google or being redirected to our site from an independent review site or blog.

We found that the Internet provided us with the best form of advertising value. It wasn’t super expensive like TV and allowed us to keep our rates competitive.

Customer Service

Our #1 focus is customer satisfaction. After all, word of mouth referrals are free. Why spend money on getting 2 customers when we can spend money on 1 customer, provide them with an excellent experience and get them to tell their family and friends about us. To us, that’s where it’s at and that’s where we’ll always be.  It’s one of the big things that distinguishes us from inexpensive systems you might find at WalMart.

Low Overhead

Our medical alert system was designed to be self-installable. The set-up process takes less than 5 minutes and plugs in the same as an answering machine. Because of this, we’re able to operate without having to charge “installation fees” or employ field technicians. This in-turn allows us to pass on the savings to our customers.
