Bay Alarm Medical

Here at Bay Alarm Medical, we take the accountability for our customers very seriously. We understand that the products and recommendations we make could potentially be the difference between life and death.

For years, we sat on the sidelines and watched as other companies released their automatic fall detection products to the public. As much as we wanted to carry a product of our own, none of the equipment and hardware we tested ever satisfied our strict and rigorous requirements.

Earlier this year, we’re proud to have finally launched our Automatic Fall Detection System to our customers. We believe that after years of research and development, we’ve found the most dependable and reliable fall detection solution in the current market.

That being said, there are still some things to be aware of

Fall detection systems rely on sensors, accelerometers, and algorithmic software to determine if a fall has occurred. The idea is brilliant but because of it’s complexity, we have found that it is sometimes susceptible to false alarms. False alarms can be triggered by ordinary activities like sitting down, bending over, stooping, and getting into bed, thus having the potential to set off a fall signal.

Another important thing to keep in mind is that if a true fall does occur, there is a possibility that the system won’t call for help. The goal of our system it to detect a fall when the client is knocked unconscious. If the system detects movement after a fall, it presumes that the user is still cognizant and has the ability to decide for themselves if EMTs are needed. Therefore, if there’s lot of movement immediately after impact, it will cancel the signal to prevent a false alarm.

Again, we take our commitment to you and your loved ones very seriously. Although the technology isn’t yet 100% consistent, we feel it is our duty to offer a wide range of systems and interventions that can really help the people that need it.

So why would anyone choose Fall Detection?

Fall Detection button

There are circumstances where fall detection systems are a more feasible option than traditional medical alert buttons—for instance, an individual who is prone to memory loss and might forget to press their button, for someone who has medical issues that cause them to frequently faint or lose consciousness, or simply to reduce the fear of falling and gain confidence and peace of mind while in the home.

We recognize the need for fall alert systems and have done our best to provide an option that is comfortable, affordable and as accurate and reliable as such a system can be. We’re here to represent our fall detection system in an honest light that illustrates both its capabilities and its shortcomings.

If you’d like assistance in determining if an automatic detection system or a traditional manual button are right for you, or if you’d like more information on either, our Care Consultants are available to help.
