How Do GPS Medical Alert Systems Work?
May 1, 2014
Many of our callers ask about how GPS medical alert systems work.
Kelly, one of our Customer Service Representatives, explains how the Bay Alarm Medical GPS Medical Alert System works in this quick video.
Kelly: Hi, this is Kelly with Bay Alarm Medical. We have a question from Gary in Vermont. Gary asks “How does the GPS System Work?” Well Gary, the GPS system does use T Mobile’s cellular network to get coverage. So you want to check your T Mobile coverage map to make sure you get good service in your area.
Check the T Mobile coverage map to make sure you get good service in your area.
Now I’ll show you what it comes with. It comes with your GPS help button. The GPS Help Button has a speaker included, so it is not waterproof. It also comes with a belt pouch and a lanyard to wear around your neck as a necklace. And it comes with your charging cradle.
You want to be sure you take your GPS Help Button and you press it firmly into the cradle to ensure it charges properly.
How it works is, you’ll take your GPS Button. You’ll press the button and you’ll wait for the dispatcher to pull up your location, and wait for them to come over the two way speaker. Once they come over the speaker, you can let them know what the situation is – whether you’re testing, you need a family member called off the contact list, or you’re having an emergency.
Press the button and wait for the dispatcher to pull up your location, then wait for them to come over the two way speaker.
Now, if you already have our in-home service, you can add the GPS onto that for a discounted rate for your monitoring service for the GPS.
Thank you so much for your question Gary. If you have any more questions, please give us a call at 1-877-522-9633. Thank you so much and have a great day!
