Elderly woman injured after robbery in her homeA kind 97-year-old woman, paid for her generosity, as she was robbed and suffered serious injuries after a person came to her door asking for change, The Bolton News reports.

Janet Morris was in her home on Saturday when her doorbell rang around 11:25 a.m., according to a publication. When she opened the door, a man asked if she had change for a dollar bill. While she looked for the money in her purse, the man hit her, causing her to fall helplessly to the ground.

After the assault, the robber grabbed her purse and headed off in an unknown direction. Morris was unable to get up or call for help in her state, though luckily others heard the commotion and came to her aid. She suffered a broken hip, and is currently still in the hospital in serious, but stable condition.

"This man has physically attacked a vulnerable member of the community in her own home as she was about to help him out," Detective Sergeant Gary Ashurst, told the publication. "I can assure this man that we will be doing everything in our power to catch him."

Intruders, fires or even falls can put seniors aging in place at risk. Those living alone may want to install a senior alert system in their homes for added protection. This wearable device gives them the ability to call for help in any circumstance.
