As the holidays are almost here, more people are scurrying around shopping malls and searching the web to make sure they get all of the best presents for everyone on their lists.
Although most people have a good idea as to what everyone likes, sometimes finding gifts for seniors can be tough. Buying for elderly loved ones can be tricky as most will say that they either have everything they need or they don't want anything.
To combat this problem, The Post-Crescent recently compiled its list of top presents for seniors chosen from reader-submitted suggestions.
The publication reports that the top idea for what to get a senior was gift cards. These are a good option as people can get them for basically anywhere including the supermarket, hair salons, pharmacies or gas stations.
Another gift idea is to prepare single-serving homemade meals that seniors can freeze and then easily reheat in the microwave or oven. This can ensure they get quality foods and will remind them of their families every time they sit down for dinner.
Other popular ideas included giving baskets of their favorite personal hygiene options, installing a medical alert system into their homes, offering to help out around their houses and giving the gift of spending more time with them.
